Boiled corn on the cob

Corn on the cob is one of the easiest thing to prepare, and is quite a filling snack.  In the Philippines, it properly belongs to the ever-popular street food group where the sweet potato and banana plantain belongs.

To prepare, rid the corn of the husk (the paper-like cover) and the silk (the white thread).  Then bring to a boil enough water in a pot to submerge the corn.

Place the corn in the boiling water and cook in 5 - 10 minutes.  Just periodically check the corn for your desired softness.  Drain, then serve.  Best with butter and a drizzle of salt and pepper.  This got us through a lot of afternoons when I was a working student back in College.  This, and banana cue :-)
